SUMMARY:Thriving Biodiversity: Caring for God's Creation'
DESCRIPTION:One of the key components of the SEC Net Zero Plan is care of God’s creation\, and fostering Thriving Biodiversity. This looks different at each charge\, from vegetable garden\, to quiet place\, to labyrinth to rewilding patches. \n\n\n\nThe SEC Net Zero Team is in place to support all charges as they develop plans for land use\, where appropriate. \n\n\n\nSharon Hall from Operation Noah will introduce their Church Land Use Vision about using church land for climate and nature benefit\, and how you and your church can be part of it. \n\n\n\nShe will share some inspiring case studies from other churches and Christian landowners\, and offer some free resources to give practical suggestions for local church groups and campaigning for wider influence. \n\n\n\nThere will be a chance to ask questions and share from your own local experience. \n\n\n\nPlease contact Jack Nevin to register.

SUMMARY:SEC Webinar: Fit for Funding Training
DESCRIPTION:Fit for Funding is a short course provided by Faith in Community Scotland which aims to help you: \n\n\n\n\nthink through your fundraising plan\n\n\n\nidentify funders that can support your work and\n\n\n\nsimplify the process of applying for and managing funding. \n\n\n\n\nThe course is primarily an introduction to the world of funding\, funders’ jargon\, priorities and outcomes.  Equally\, it is also a way to build connections with those from other charges doing similar work and a great way to build mutual support and your own networks as you navigate the funding process.  \n\n\n\nWhether you are brand new to projects and finding funding or have years of experience\, our hope is that you will find something useful and share your wisdom with the group. This is an extended workshop programme of the session offered at some Net Zero Roadshow events. \n\n\n\nThe training workshop is provided by Allan Ramsay\, Community Development Worker for Faith in Community Scotland. \n\n\n\nTo register please email Jack Nevin.

SUMMARY:Webinar: The Energy Footprint Tool – What We Have Learned
DESCRIPTION:For the last two years\, every Charge in the Province has been asked to complete the Energy Footprint Tool\, usually just referred to as the EFT. \n\n\n\nThe data gathered allows each Charge to see the size of its carbon footprint and track changes\, particularly when measures have been put in place to reduce this footprint. \n\n\n\nBecause data is collected across the Province\, we can see the carbon footprint at the Diocesan and Provincial level as well as the Charge level. In addition\, we can compare data from similar sized Charges to your own. \n\n\n\nData collected from the EFT enables the Net Zero team to assist Charges in developing strategies and securing grant funding to reduce their carbon footprint. \n\n\n\nThis webinar will explain why the completion and continued completion of the EFTs are important and what they can tell us. \n\n\n\nUsing graphs and charts\, the webinar will examine the carbon footprint of our Charges at the Provincial and Diocesan levels in various ways\, including both the smallest and largest emitters using banding\, comparing 2023 and 2024 data\, the effects of renewable tariffs\, different types of heating used by the Dioceses\, as well as trends and direction of travel. \n\n\n\nIn addition to presenting our data in various formats\, this is an opportunity to explore what the EFT is revealing and how we can streamline the process for Charges to collect this data.

SUMMARY:Genesis\, Big Bang and AI: Understanding God the creator in an age of science
DESCRIPTION:Are science and Christian faith in opposition\, each fearing the other?  Does science become an idol\, replacing God as creator and saviour?   \n\n\n\nPs & Gs Church\, Edinburgh are hosting a talk by David Wilkinson\, both an astrophysicist and a Christian theologian. David suggests that while science and Christianity ask each other searching questions\, those questions are enriching not destructive.   \n\n\n\nThe Christian understanding of God as creator allows science to be seen as gift rather than curse\, to be welcomed with awe and a sense of responsibility to do good. \n\n\n\nMore information and registration can be found here: \n\n\n\nBible Lab – Genesis\, Big Bang and AI: Understanding God the creator in an age of science – Ps & Gs Church
