Case Study: EV Charger for St Mary’s Broughty Ferry Rectory

The first Sustainable Travel Grant in the Diocese of Brechin has allowed for the installation, and associated rewiring, of a new EV charger at the rectory of St Mary’s, Broughty Ferry.

This grant, which provides up to £1,500 in funding, is available to charges to encourage sustainable travel – whatever that may look like in the given context, by clergy and congregation alike. The congregation of St Mary’s, Broughty Ferry have sent the following update:

Until the recent installation of a metal boxed circuit board and an EV Charger at our Rectory, occupants of St. Mary’s Rectory had been relying on a 3-prong charge cable secreted under the closed garage door to charge the Rector’s EV.

However, with a grant from the Sustainable Travel Fund, gratefully received and instantly applied, the property now enables a considerably more secure, and a much faster method for EV charging; the added, though embarrassing, bonus is that the Vestry is now fully compliant with its insurers.

Thank you, SEC! Our Rector is so pleased that there is a rapid turnaround on the EV charge, and with the added bonus of being eligible for smart electricity tariffs on offer from several Scottish Providers.
