Journeying towards a net zero church

A Net Zero Progress Report for 2025 was written by Paul Williams and the Net Zero Team in February and has been approved by Standing Committee. The report outlines strategic progress, initiatives, and plans for achieving net zero emissions by 2030.

Progress reports and accompanying Energy Footprint Tool data are publicly available (approved by Standing Committee April 2026) and will be published periodically at the link below.

Please note, Energy Footprint Tool data is published to inform and support action, not to single out or criticise individual churches. A higher emissions footprint often reflects the realities of larger, older, or more heavily used buildings rather than a lack of commitment to climate action.

By making this data visible, the Net Zero Team can identify where the greatest opportunities for emissions reduction exist and prioritise support, funding, and technical input accordingly. At the same time, the data highlights where churches are already making progress, helping to share good practice and demonstrate the impact of collective action across the Province.
