The Anglican delegation is present at the thirtieth Conference of Parties (COP30) and ready to advocate for the protection and restoration of the lungs of our earth: Forests, oceans and ice caps. COP30 is being hosted by Brazil and is taking place this week in Belém, Pará.
This year, the delegation representing Anglican voices at COP will be urging international governing bodies to:
🔹 Listen to the voices of the Amazon and indigenous wisdom.
🔹 Work with faith groups to strengthen resilience in communities on the front line of climate crisis.
🔹 Keep promises on climate finance so that all nations can thrive.
🔹 Speed the just transition away from fossil fuel dependency.
🔹 Commit to delivering access to fair climate finance.

Today is Day 3 of COP30 and the theme for the day is Empowering and Equipping People to Accelerate Progress.

Sessions focus on just transition, looking at how jobs and skills can be integrated into economic and climate strategy. There will continue to be a focus on indigenous-led adaptation pathways, improving dialogue and allowing culture, storytelling and art to inform climate action.

We would like to encourage everyone to keep praying for all decision-makers involved in COP30 and for our brothers and sisters around the globe facing the detrimental impacts of climate change in their daily lives.
A fantastic prayer resource has been put together by a group of local Christians (mostly from St Mungo’s Church, Balerno and Livingston) with a focus on the theme ‘Our Voices Matter’.
We would like to encourage individuals and church groups to pray through COP using these resources.

Lord, you know what is best for the global garden you gave us to tend. We thank you for the gift of our common home and ask that you give wisdom to those in authority to act with the interests of natural ecosystems in mind. Amen.
