St Mary’s Dalmahoy report on how the secondary glazing they had installed in 2022/23 is working for their building and congregation.
So far we have found the secondary glazing to be extremely good. It was installed by a company which was called Glaze and Save but has rebranded as Cocoon. They are a Perth based company and their products and service are tremendous.

The project was funded by the FCC Scottish Action Fund. Fortunately for us, at that time, the FCC Scottish Action Fund was possibly less well known than it is now – two subsequent applications towards our recent repointing project were both refused.
We have had a minor issue with condensation on our very large west facing windows but water ingress was diagnosed either through tiny cracks in the external glass or dampness in the stonework surrounding the installation.
In certain areas of the church, which were extremely draughty, the difference is huge.
In 2020, far infrared heating units were installed to replace the previous system of electric radiant heaters. These have proved to be much more energy efficient and the perceived comfort level in the building is improved.

Due to the big increase in the price of electricity, our costs have not been reduced. However the carbon footprint of our building has dramatically improved.
