General Synod brings together clergy and lay representatives from across the Province of the Scottish Episcopal Church. The proceedings are underway and Friday will include the Net Zero Team presentation.

Paul Williams (Net Zero Delivery Director) will talk about the triple planetary crises of climate change, pollution and biodiversity loss, and the response of the Scottish Episcopal Church within the Net Zero Action Plan.

During Synod, members of the Net Zero Team will be present at an information stand near the coffee area. Please do come and speak to any team member during the coffee and lunch breaks.

  • Thursday 5 June:
    • Neil (Carbon Projects and Data Officer)
    • Iain (Sustainability Officer)
    • Daniel (Clean Energy Advisor)
    • Paul (Net Zero Delivery Director)
  • Friday 6 June:
    • Jack (Innovation Coordinator)
    • Bethany (Empowerment Coordinator)
    • Daniel and Paul will be around all day, and Iain and Neil will join at lunchtime.

In addition to their provincial roles, each Net Zero Team member is the main contact for one or two diocese(s). A recap of who’s who for each diocese is below:

  • Daniel – Moray, Ross & Caithness
  • Jack – Aberdeen & Orkney and Brechin
  • Bethany – St Andrews, Dunkeld & Dunblane
  • Iain – Glasgow & Galloway and Argyll & The Isles
  • Neil – Edinburgh

A Net Zero Team report was produced for the Standing Committee (March 2025), which details the work of the Net Zero Team since its recruitment in Spring 2024. One such area of work is the roll-out of the Energy Footprint Tool (EFT), used to collect baseline carbon emissions data.
