With the new office at 40 Torphichen Street, Edinburgh, the General Synod staff of the Scottish Episcopal Church will have a warmer, more accessible and environmentally friendly workspace.
One advantage of moving to a managed office is that the General Synod office is only responsible for their specific office suite. The rest of the building is the owners’ responsibility, who are committed to creating a healthier workplace and improving the indoor environment for all employees.
The property has set high standards by using high-performance technologies to reduce energy and resource use, and conserve water. Some of the building’s innovative features will be noticed at once, such as dual flush toilets.
The building’s EPC rating is C, and the secondary glazing system increases thermal efficiency. High-efficiency LED lighting has been installed throughout, and a flexible lighting control system incorporating presence detection and daylight-linked dimming has been implemented to minimise energy use.
The carbon footprint of the new office space will be considerably lower than at Forbes House, which will help contribute towards the Net Zero journey of the Scottish Episcopal Church.
