St James’ Church in rural Aberdeenshire sits on a hill and is visible from miles around. This Christmas it is now much more distinctive at night with its new LED lights.

These lights signal to passers by that the church is alive and present in the community.

You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.

In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

Matthew 5:14-16

Since October last year, St James’ have been on a fixed 36-month renewable (green) tariff with SmartestEnergy. Their upcoming plans are to replace old inefficient electric heaters to create a warm welcome inside the church.
