Worship: Lent 2025 resources

Lent is approaching and with it the promise of spring. At this time of year, we are called as Christians to consider the time Jesus spent in the wilderness. The world around us can feel as barren and hostile as any desert and yet, as Isaiah 40 reminds us, it is in the wilderness that a way for Christ is prepared. So as we look for signs of spring and notice the lengthening days, may we be open to where God is calling us next.

To help us in our Lenten reflections, Green Christian have shared a new resource for churches to use. You can access this and other suggested resources here.

Eco-congregation Scotland have a wide collection of Lent resources under the theme of Fruitful Heritage. You can find these here.

We would also recommend the 2020 Archbishop of Cantebury Lent book by Ruth Valerio ‘Saying Yes to Life’. Whilst this is now a number of years old, it remains a helpful journey through the Genesis creation story.

Jo Swinney (A Rocha International) has published a new book this year, which individuals and groups might like to use through Lent and Easter. There are also virtual Lent Book Club events each Wednesday hosted by Jo Swinney and Jo Herbert-James. More information can be found here.

Please do share stories of how your church is caring for creation during Lent this year, or how you have engaged with the resources above. You can get in touch through our Contact page.
